Why Would Anyone Get A Steak Well-Done?

Mike left a response in my post about the various grades of meat and ended his thoughts with definitions on the “doneness” levels. Personally, I like most of my steaks to be rare or medium-rare because I like the tenderness, I like the pinkness, and I think that a lot of the flavor is lost the more you grill the meat.

So why on earth would anyone get a steak well-done? Mike was right in his assessment that well-done pretty much means shoe leather. “WELL-DONE: Shoe-leather. There’s no juice left. If you want one of these prepared at my house, bring your own steak and be prepared to cook it yourself. I won’t abuse a piece of good beef this way.” And, as little as I know about grilling in general, I know this much to be true - well-done steaks are not done well at all, they’ve been abused and left on the fire far too long to be of use to anyone who likes steaks.

If you’re one of the few who does like a steak to be cooked all the way through, please do let us all know why why why you would do such an awful thing? :)

I my steaks well done because they don’t fill your body with parasites. I was told by my doctor and several other health proffessionals that meat should be cooked well done in order to avoid the rapidd spreading of parasites in the body, which can lead to lymphedema and many other health problems. I am not sure how you prepare your steak, but whenever I cook my steak, whethr it be on the grill or stove top, trust me mine is always tender and juicy. I think a good chef can prepare meat the way the customer requests an it be good everytime. To an ametuer yes you would get shoe leather, but to an individual that knows what they are doing, they can produce, a good quality tender, juicy, well done piecee of meat. Try cooking it low and slow.

A steak well done is better for your health vs any meat not cooked all the way through. Red/pink meat just sits in your intestine waiting on a day to breakdown in your digestive system, and can also cause a lot of intestinal and stomach problems.
