1. It Tastes Better!
Whether you use charcoal or propane, grilling imparts a smokey flavor to your food (more with charcoal) that an oven just won’t be able to do. As you cook, the fat will cook into a liquid, fall to the coals or burners and sizzle, pushing a nice smelling flavor up into your food and then to your nostrils.
2. It’s Healthier!
When you grill, the fat gets cooked off and cooked away. In an oven, the fat just collects in the pan and your food soaks in it. Sure, it might be a little juicier, if you aren’t that good with judging cooking times on a grill; but it’s fattier too.
3. It’s Cheaper!
When you fire up the oven, you usually heat up your house and when it’s warm outside, that forces your HVAC to work harder to cool your place down. Depending on how much energy your oven uses, that could also be a consideration versus the price of charcoal or propane. Lastly, ovens are often more expensive than grills because of all the fancy electronic gadgetry inside. So, no matter how you cut it, using the grill is simply cheaper, especially if you got one of those versatile squat Weber charcoal grills.
4. It’s Fast(er)!
Getting a propane grill up to 450 degrees is significantly faster than getting an oven up to 450 degrees, plus it’s outside so that automatic bonus points. Plus, after you’re done, the cleanup is a cinch as well – just scrape the grill with your brush and let the bad boy cool down and you’re done. No pans to scrape or otherwise clean.
5. It’s Fun!
When you put something into the oven, you usually set the timer and then leave to do something else. When you throw something on the grill, you usually just close the lid, pop open a cool adult beverage, and hang out with your friends. It’s a totally different mindset, the cooking process is part of the fun, not something that happens before you eat.

I’d be careful about calling it healthier. There’s been evidence of increased carcinogens in grilling vs. say, steaming.
I still like to grill and try to do it at least 4 days a week – usually it’s 6 though.
