The Great Ribs Book by Hugh Carpenter & Teri Sandison
Grilled on July 15th, 2008 in Reviews
My wife gave me a copy of The Great Ribs Book by Hugh Carpenter & Teri Sandison as a holiday gift and it’s a fun little book for the ribs aficionado, which I am. Overall, it’s heavy on recipes and light on actual rib preparation and cooking techniques, though that is typically the style when it comes to cooking books. Lots of pictures and recipes, not much in the way of advanced cooking techniques outside of a perfunctory few pages of typical rib cooking tips (remove the membrane, don’t boil ribs, how to grill, how to smoke, etc)
If you’re looking for some cool recipes, you’re in the right place though. It categorizes the recipes into:
- Show-stopping Asian Ribs
- American Ribs
- Mexican and Southwestern
- Mediterranean & Caribbean
- Fruit-based Barbecue Glazes
- Succulent Braised Ribs
There are a lot of delicious recipes in there, check it out.

I received this book as a gift from a friend and was amazed at how many different recipies there were. Not many advanced cooking techniques, as that is what I am really after, but a great book none the less. I recommend this book for any grill enthusiast.
