How Much Food Should You Grill?

So I’m hosting a housewarming party this weekend and it’ll be the first party with food I’ve ever hosted so knowing how much food to get will be a bit of a challenge. If you take your average grilling consumer, they will at maximum eat a chicken breast and a burger in terms of meat. When you add to that a few bottles of beer, some pasta or potato salad, some regular rabbit food salad, and maybe a hot dog… you’ve pretty much put a handle down on how much food they’ll be eating. Typically girls will consume less than guys, about half, and then you add a bit of a fudge factor since you’ll eat any extras in the next week anyway.

So, for this weekend I’ll have around 30 people at the house so I’ll get 20 chicken breasts, 20 burgers (or as much ground beef as you need for 20 half pounders), two packages of hot dogs, all the buns and then maybe some ears of corn. I figure guests will bring the easy stuff like potato salad or macaroni salad but if not the grocery store is only five minutes away.

That… and three thirty packs of the finest brew in the land… Natural Light! :)

    Jim-

Catching up on the grilling blog.
    Natty Light?

    For shame.

A good BBQ meal deserves a good beer just like a fine wine.

Haha, yeah, natty light IS good! Actually it’s a little dig on a friend who brought a case of natty light to a kickball game and then took it with him after the game ended. Now, we usually drink all the beer after a game but he had the gall to break a man law and take it back! And it was natty light!
