Charbroil The Big Easy Installation Instructions
Grilled on November 14th, 2007 in GrillsIn anticipation of a big Thanksgiving weekend with my friends (we have an annual Thanksgiving dinner with approximately fifty attendees), I put together The Big Easy Oil-less Turkey Fryer last night so I could put in a pair of chickens to break her in. All told the process took about twenty minutes but the instructions were a little confusing at one step.
There are basically three parts to the installation:
- Attaching the four legs and the grease trap rails.
- Assembling the starter box/spark box.
- Attaching the starter box/spark box to The Big Easy.
Step one was pretty easy. Step two was a little confusing because it was hard to figure out what was what on a black, white, and gray picture. Step three was a freaking ten minute nightmare as I questioned my own intelligence at least three times as I tried to figure out how to orient the box, screw it on, add some heat shield, and then find where I was supposed to attach the wire. Looking back, step three was trivial once you finished but before you did it was confusing. The one big confusing part was where the heat shield was supposed to end up and I think a little more prose would’ve been helpful.
Another tip to Charbroil, and you guys did this with the TEC Grill, but label the package of screws on the paper side. Having to flip the thing over, especially with some screws punched out, to figure out which one I needed was a big of a pain. In fact, having the printing on the plastic side is absolutely unnecessary.
I’m pretty excited about the fryer and I can’t wait to use it tonight for our dueling chickens.
