I purchased a Jenn Air grill from Lowes last year. I used it as an outdoor oven to cook roasts etc.. In 2007 I started to use it as a normal gas grill. Couldn't do it. I had to hunt for spots hot enough to cook a steak on.They even told me at Nex-grill that it only cooked in certain spots. If you ever dealt with nex-grill I'm sorry. They are hard to get hold of on the phone, long waits. Lowes agreed to take this grill back and issued me a store credit for it. I replaced it with a Char-Broil Tec grill. This is the most fun grill I have ever owned. Casn't say enough about how happy I am with it.Dan

Brian: Perhaps you got a damaged ceramic plate, you can probably get it replaced under warranty maybe?

I bought the 4 burner 2 TEC infrared model and the glass cooking surface broke on the second night i cooked on it! I heard two loud noises (like small bombs0 and that was it!

Has anyone else had this problem? For now, this grill is getting shipped back to Lowes.

I am going to buy the 4 burner today. I have read all great things about this grill. I have had a Char Broil precision flame for 7 years and it still is a great grill. I need to replace the burner tubes so I'm going for a new one. I'll still use the old though for various slow cook items. I'm not worried about the stainless grade, it goes in the garage when it is idle. I think some nice Filet mignon will be my first item to sear and cook....

I am supprised to be the first to comment on this TEChno-beast of a grill. For my money, this is the best grilling, smoking, BBQing all in one cooking solution available. I bought the largest model which cost less than $1000.00 at Lowe's. With two standard convection burners, two of the latest technology infrared burners, a rear, infrared rotisserie burner, a side burner for soups and sauces, all 304 grade stainless steel construction and a full size, two door cart, this has to be the best deal in town. (apparently, also the best kept secret) I swear I don't work for anyone as a representative for this product! I am just a guy who thoroughly investigates the market before making my decision to buy anything. The TEC infrared grilling portion of this awsome machine would set you back almost $2500.00 alone if purchased from a BBQ store. I have been told that the price disparity is a result of the difference in the quality of the stainless components. I have read that Char-Broil uses 400 grade stainless in other of it's grills. (Not so in this model) This can result in early on rust. I would hope they will respond to on-line complaints and consider upgrading to the better stainless steel for all of their products. HOWEVER, THIS SUCKER COOKS! It's EZ and fast. It uses much less gas to produce much better, resturant quality, results in every dish I have prepared. If it rusts out and dies in five years, I'll go buy a new one just like it. I consider this purchase an amortized investment. No grill lasts forever. For me, it is worth two bills a year for what this sweet machine can do!
