Carnival of the Recipes #87

It’s been a long week hasn’t it? Well I’d like to be the first, and only, to welcome you to an entirely tax-free Easter and Passover weekend edition of the Carnival of the Recipes, where your host, the Grill Maestro (me!), will be showcasing the past week’s hottest recipes for your enjoyment.

Procrastinators, these recipes are for you. They’re quick, they’re easy, and they can get you back to filing that blasted tax return ASAP.

  • The General at BBQ General presents a quick recipe in “A Bird in the Hand…” for chicken that takes only about half an hour.
  • A Weight Lifted has a delicious Easy Breakfast Casserole reipce made with red bell peppers, bacon, and Swiss.
  • keewee at keewee’s corner offers a nice relaxing Easy Cheesy Meat Loaf recipe that won’t make you pull your hair out.

All done? Celebrate with some of these recipes.

Finished months ago and look for another challenge? Here are some harder recipes…

  • Christine Torres at Morning Coffee & Afternoon Tea tackles a difficult Chocolate Souffle recipe on “Chocolate Friday” and includes a picture.
  • Gary of Foodies Across Borders authored “Double recipe review” which is a look at his experience with two recipes - “Seared Lamb Noisettes with Pea, Feta and Mint Salad” and “Eggplant and Goat Cheese Lasagnas.” I don’t even know what a Noisettes even is!

Owe the government money? Here are some great dishes that will save you money (or so good you’ll forget you just sent the government a check).

  • These shrimp and pork potstickers will stick to your pot, so the taxman can’t take them away.
  • Me-Ander, host to the monthly Kosher Cooking Carnival, has revealed for us The Secret of Gefilte Fish! It’s a recipe that will guarantee you never buy the pre-made stuff ever again.
  • Blabber Heads presents Death, Taxes and Mexican food which is a pairing of recipes - chicken enchiladas and frozen strawberry margaritas (in the event the first recipe doesn’t work out).

Next Week’s Host:
Everything and Nothing will be hosting the 88th Carnival of the Recipes so be sure to get your submissions in before Sunday. Thank you everyone for contributing!

Clearly, I should have included a bit of the prelude to the “Seared Lamb Noisettes with Pea, Feta and Mint Salad”!! The author explains that Noisettes are “very popular in England but rarely seen in the United States” and are made from racks of lamb by cutting the meat away from the bones — but left in one piece. An 8-bone rack would produce 8 noisettes by tying it like a roast in 8 equidistant places, then cutting the meat crosswise. But, as I mentioned, the presentation (I think) is much nicer with the bones in, and I hate to waste a single morsel of lamb!

Thanks, G-Maestro, for including a link to Foodies Across Borders in the Carnival! Cool site!!
