Build Your Own $40 Terra Cotta Smoker
Grilled on August 30th, 2006 in SmokologyIt’s not as pretty as a trash can smoker (I say that in jest of course) but one of my favorite blogs, Life as a Vegas poker dealer, built himself a smoker out of two terra cotta planter pots! The basics are the same as any other homemade smoker (hot plate, tray to hold chips, etc.) but a smoking terra cotta dome just looks so much cooler than a smoking garbage can.
Lessons learned? Don’t use a disposable pie tin to hold the wood chips, it’ll burn up with the chips.
