There are three tricks to beer can chicken.
1: Make sure you drink some of the beer out of it. No, not because you are a drunk, but because in a lower temp fire, its hard for a full can of beer to begin to evaporate.
2: Get a beer with a bold taste. Dont waste your time with a lighter beer you enjoy drinking. If you want to taste the beer in the chicken you need a beer that assaults your taste buds.
3: Stuff an onion or potato in the neck. The onion also adds flavor, (use the potato if this isnt what you are going for) but it also corks the beer flavor and forces the chicken to absorb it from the inside out.
