A Wireless Talking Meat Thermometer? Too Yuppy!
Grilled on September 22nd, 2006 in AccessoriesI was reading through a Forbes piece on some cool grilling accessories and saw one of the silliest things in the world, a wireless talking meat thermometer from Brookstone! What you do is stick a thermometer (attached to a transmitter) into what you’re grilling and carry the receiver which will indicate when the meat has reached a specified internal temperature.
Part of the fun of grilling is hanging out by the grill, smelling the smoky smells and drinking a beer. If your idea of grilling doesn’t involve being outside or at least being close to your grill and hearing the sizzle… just use the oven. Let’s be honest… you don’t really want to be out there grilling, you just like the idea of grilling.
I’m a fan of gadgets and gizmos you will never ever need, which Brookstone is known for, but this one just goes against the grain too much. Sure it’s handy, but a grill master (or… a grill maestro if you will) should be by his or her grill, smelling the scents, hearing the sizzle, and enjoying a beer.
